Field Trip
A two-hour trip to explore the museum featuring two floors of hands-on exhibits reflecting the pioneer days of life in South Florida.
Focused Field Trip
A two-hour trip here at the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum that includes 1 hour and 30 minutes of play and a 30-minute hands-on “focus topic” in our classroom geared specifically for Pre-school - Pre-K or for Kindergarten - Second Grade

Mondays, Two hour trips can begin at 9:00am, 10:00am or 12:00pm

In House Field Trip Pricing:
- $3.50 per student: Basic Group Visit/Field Trip
- $6.00 per student: Focused Group Visit/Field Trip
- $6.00 Additional Chaparone over 1:6 ratio
- Minimum 15 students
- Maximum 50 students (Please call for further information)

- Have contact information available at time of inquiry. (Group/Organization name, number of students including grade/age, primary contact person, address, phone number and email address)

What you should know before your visit
ON THE DAY OF YOUR VISIT
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time.
- Buses can drop students off at the front entrance and then park in parking, east of museum. Vehicles may not remain parked in the traffic loop. Drivers can enter exhibit area. at no charge.
- When you arrive, please know the total number of students and chaperones in your group. The group leader should check in at the front desk upon arrival.
- Your group will be greeted by our education staff.
- Students must be supervised by their teacher at all times.
- Due to material limitations, presentations may not be able to be added the day of your visit
- Please note there are no lunch facilities at the museum
CHAPERONE NOTES
- One (1) adult chaperone (18 yrs. or older) is required for every 6 children. This includes teachers, teacher aides and parents.
- Required chaperones are admitted FREE; additional adults over the required number are $6 each.
- Q: What if I am missing a chaperone?
- A: Groups may be charged an additional $25.00 on the day of the visit. The Museum reserves the right to turn away groups based on the number of missing chaperones.

OUTREACH PROGRAMS
- Our educator will need a table at the front of the room.
- The educator should have an area to demonstrate their activity. It is best to have educator set up in one room and have groups come to them.
- The class must have an in-class facilitator to hand out any supplies to the students.
- Programs are presented to groups of 20. Multiple presentations will be given for larger groups.
PAYMENT POLICY AND FEES
- A $50 non-refundable deposit is due in order to confirm your reservation.
- No refunds or credits will be made for no-shows the day of visit.
- Final payment must be received by the day of your visit, or reservations are subject to cancellation and your group may not be admitted. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED.
- On the day of your scheduled visit, check in for your group at the Front Desk under your group/contact name.
- Acceptable forms of payment are check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard).

Preschool - Pre-K
Creepie Crawlies - The Very Busy Spider:
Students investigate this architect of the insect world. Find out how spiders find food in their webs and why they don’t get stuck themselves. Students create their own spider web.
Color-Red, yellow, blue-what can I make from you?
Children will enjoy the story of “Mouse Paint” by Ellen Stohl Walsh or “Color Dance” by Ann Jonas and then begin the adventure in color mixing their own!
Fun Physics
After listening to “Balancing Act” by Ellen Stohl Walsh, children will experiment with balance, explore levels and create their own balancing figure.
Wild Animal Adventures -The Octopus!
Find out more about this genius of camouflage and how their boneless bodies can fit through tiny openings by exploring “slime octopi”!
May The Force Be With You! Magnet Exploration
Learn what is magnetic and what is not, how the mysterious force of magnets can move things and even paint with magnets!
Wacky Weather
Students will learn about different forms of weather through interactive games and activities. Students will observe a super cool demonstration of how clouds form in the water cycle. Student will conduct their own rain experiment.
Who Lives in the Mangrove Forest-An introduction to Habitats!
Come discover what a habitat is, what a mangrove is and who lives there! We will learn about three different creatures who call the mangrove forest home.
Duck, Duck Feather**
What is the job of a water bird’s feathers? Students will be briefly introduced to ducks and other water birds of the Florida everglades before examining the unique job of a feather though hands on explorations and activities.
It’s Raining, It’s Pouring! **
What does it mean to be “waterproof”? Come explore this concept in an introductory lesson on one of the properties of materials.
Kindergarten - Second Grade
Sea Turtle Rescue-STEAM Challenge
Learn a little bit about the sea turtles that nest on our beaches, things that impact those nests/hatchlings and how plastic pollution hurts turtles.Finish the class with a S.T.E.A.M. challenge to protect a nest!
It’s Not Easy Being Green-STEAM Challenge
Learn all about recycling and choices that make the Earth “happy” or “sad”. Complete the class with a S.T.E.A.M. based challenging of creating a litterbug from recycled materials!
The Fabulous Five Senses
Learn all about the 5 senses and body parts that make them work. Students will explore their senses with The Nose Knows and What’s in the Box? games.
Wacky Weather

I Dig Dinos
Come and discover the age of the dinosaur! Students will become paleontologist and learn all about fossils. As a junior paleontologist, students will explore fossilized “dinosaur eggs” and get to take a new “pet” home.
What’s the Matter?
Students will explore and classify the three states of matter. They will see some chemistry demonstrations and participate in hands on activities. Class concludes with everyone making their own chemical reaction appear before their eyes as slime changes from a liquid to a solid.
Volcanoes
Learn the what, when, where and why of volcanoes and what makes them erupt. Students will observe a demonstration of a volcano erupting. Students will have the opportunity to create and erupt their very own volcano that is theirs to keep.
Engineering a Fairy Tale-STEAM Challenge
Once upon a time…. Using favorite children’s fairy tales, students will use their problem
solving and
creative thinking skills to develop new solutions for the story book character’s
dilemmas.

The Gingerbread Boy - There must be some other way for the Gingerbread Boy to
get across
the river!
Three Little Pigs - Students will attempt to build a structure that can stand
up to the
huffing and puffing of the Big Bad Wolf.
Move it! Move it!-STEAM Challenge
A lesson in force, push and pull…Come explore these important concepts and then tackle the S.T.E.A.M. challenge to assist "construction workers who need help moving rocks to build a road"!
Gators Lunch
After reading the book "The Swamp Where Gator Hides", we will explore everglades food chains/webs and how environmental polluntants can influence them through hands-on activities and experiments.
Duck, Duck Feather**
